Absolutely. We do not cut corners when it comes to the quality of any of the products we provide. The hair extension brands on our website are of high calibre. We have both remi human hair and virgin hair (Indian and Russian) on offer. Further information can be found on the product pages.
Hair extensions don't damage your hair. Unsuitable methods, improper application and incorrect aftercare do. We use the best quality hair extensions, tools and materials and our staff are experienced hair extension specialists. You will receive aftercare advice and we are always on hand to help. If it comes to light that a particular method isn't working well with your hair, we will re-assess your hair and reccommend a more suitable method.
We recommend the use of the Nude London hair care line in conjunction with your hair extensions. These products have been tried and tested extensively in our salon and along with all the positive client feedback we have received, they are our recommended product line of choice. All products mentioned below are from their product line and can be purchased here from Ariela Hair & Beauty.
• Wash and condition hair twice a week in luke warm water with Rehydrate shampoo and Replenish conditioner. This duo from Nude London are sulfate and alcohol free. If there is not a lot of product build-up, you may opt to co-wash with the conditioner only.
• Rub products into your hands and apply to hair in a downward stroking motion. Never apply conditioner to your roots where you have bonds, tapes or beads as this can cause slippage. You may use shampoo on your scalp to cleanse the skin and remove product build-up without affecting the bonds.
• Clarifying Rinse shampoo is great at removing initial build-up on the hair. Be sure to follow with the Rehydrate shampoo to start adding that moisture back into the hair. It is also used on its own to wash your hair before your hair extension appointment and can be followed with Replenish from mid-shaft to ends only. This ensures a squeaky clean, oil-free base for your hair extension application and prevents slippage.
• Use Restore Conditioning Masque bi-weekly to keep hair nourished, smooth and give it intense shine. It can be used weekly to give hair an extra conditioning boost if necessary.
• Keep your hair tangle-free with the Tress Tamer brush that doesn't snag on the hair or tug at the attachments. Always hold the hair in sections firmly at the root and brush gently from the ends working your way upwards to ensure you aren't tugging at the roots. Please ensure you are brushing all the way up to the roots and not just on the surface of the extensions to avoid matting at the root.
• Braid or twist your hair before you sleep and ensure it is thoroughly dry to avoid tangling. Cover with a satin bonnet or sleep on a satin pillow case for extra protection and to avoid frizz or friction.
• Minimise the use of hot styling tools and avoid using blowdryers and straighteners above 180-200°C. Use Thermal Defence heat protectant prior to using any heated appliances and keep appliances away from bonds, tapes or beads at the root attachments to avoid damage. Using accessories like bendy rollers and various foam rollers are a great way to get curls without applying heat.
• If you are wearing Nude Locks or K-Tips, take time often to go row by row separating them at the root to avoid them matting/fusing together.
• Although all hair we provide is human hair, we discourage colouring and using toners on your extensions as we cannot guarantee how it will affect the lifespan of your extensions. If you would like to colour your extensions, contact a reputable hair salon for a professional service and ensure they do a strand test with the formula before attempting to colour the entire pack.
Whilst on holiday/in warmer climates for various reasons, including discolouration of the hair when coming into contact with intense UV exposure, swimming pool chlorine, sunscreen and the hair drying out through excessive heat. We strongly advise all clients using hair extensions to avoid both submerging hair in chlorine and sea water as this can damage hair and hair colour. Use a Malibu hard water treatment, hair care containing SPF sun protection (eg. Oribe Invisible Defense Spray), tie hair up and cover with a swimming cap as a precaution.
Use mineral sunscreens that contain zinc oxide or titanium dioxide for example, as these are best for extensions. Sunscreens containing Avobenzone (Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane) and Octocrylene react with the keratin in hair, especially when exposed to UV rays and minerals in water like iron. This discolors hair extensions and can turn especially blonde hair orange or pink. Other chemical UV filters like Oxybenzone, Homosalate, Octinoxate, and Octisalate can also contribute to discoloration so look out for these ingredients. Some sunscreen brand recommendations include Sun Bum, Balmond's, Blue Lizard, Sun Zapper and Salt & Stone.
We recommend the Nude London hair care product line as a baseline for your hair extensions. We have tried and tested these products for years, as have many of our clients and we are confident that they are the best for both your natural hair and your hair extensions. Although we are huge fans of the entire collection, as a minimum, we strongly advise the use of Nude London Rehydrate shampoo and Replenish conditioner to maintain the quality of your hair extensions.
Although all hair extensions we provide are human hair, we discourage bleaching, colouring and using toners on your extensions as we cannot guarantee how it will affect the lifespan of your extensions. We strongly advise purchasing hair extensions in your desired shade. For Nude London's virgin hair, contact a reputable hair salon and ensure they do a strand test of the formula before attempting to colour or tone the entire pack. Any bleaching or colouring of Ariela Hair and Nude London hair extensions is done entirely at your own risk.
